Kevin Allison (the State) is in town for SXSW and will be offering a sketch writing workshop at ColdTowne Theater, Monday March 12, 5:30-8:30! Workshop cost is $35

note from Kevin:
Bring 6-10 copies of at least 1 sketch you're working on for us to look at. Each sketch should take no more than 5 minutes to read through.

Kevin Allison is a member of the TV sketch comedy group The State, best known for its series on MTV in the 90s. He is the creator and host of the show RISK!, where people tell true stories they never thought they'd dare to share in public. RISK! has ongoing live shows in New York and Los Angeles and is a popular audio podcast on iTunes.

Recent film and TV appearances include Reno 911!: Miami, The Ten, The Next Girl I See and HBO's Flight of the Conchords. Kevin currently leads the sketch group Big Flux, a popular favorite at the PIT. His writing has appeared in The Village Voice, Giant, Premiere and Film Journal International. Kevin has been teaching sketch comedy classes since 2002. He also teaches film classes at NYU.

YES! Wow.

I'm not a sketch writer, and thus have nothing prepared. Would there be a possibility to pay for auditing or watching? I don't want to derail or distract the class, but I would love to hear what he has to say.

While other 11 year olds were playing baseball & picking flowers in meadows THIS GUY was watching MTV's The State & subconsciously plotting what he was going to be doing the rest of his life.
