the thing that irks me every year is the total lack of independent films. Last year 'Blue Valentine', in my mind, a shoe in for Best Picture somehow didn't even get nominated.

The Oscars have actually been leaning toward lower budgeted films since the number of nominees has gone up.

# of times I've agreed with a best picture pic at the Oscars during my adult life: Zero
