(wouldn't hurt to have an ensemble either)
Hey guys! I'm Ray and I put together the embedded video. Found your thoughts very interesting!

What I set out to do was to make my own version of these videos, rather than make a straight parody following the exact formula of the Shit Girls Say video (not that there is anything wrong with doing a cookie-cutter version). I wanted to do something with more of my own sensibility, down to the pacing, editing and some of the surreal elements of the sketch. I thought this approach would also be more fun for people tired of this meme.

And for the record, I'm not tired of these memes and still enjoy them, specifically the more obscure ones. Even if I didn't understand the inside jokes, I thought it was an interesting look at how the people view themselves and their own community.

Quite a few of the ideas mentioned here we actually touched on and shot, some almost word for word! but didn't end up using in the final cut. Again, different direction and if we listed everything improvisers say, we could make a movie (and probably a sequel!). We didn't think of the leaving/returning for NY one though! Haha. I like that one a lot.

I enjoyed reading your criticism and thanks for passing it along. And if you guys ever want to visit Chicago, feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or whatever.

Cheers,
Ray

"We did a similar thing in the Jury..."
The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

Yeah, and cheers to Ray for following through and getting his idea shot and putting it up before any other improvisers. Which brings me to my contribution to the meme:

"I wish we had that on video!"
"Is that the best we have to submit?"
"Can we borrow his camcorder?"
"Do you think they'll care that half the troupe is different from the photo?"
"That should be a sketch. We should film that."
"I couldn't upload it to youtube before the deadline."

Hey Roy.

I don't perform at iO, actually. My focus right now is on writing/videomaking. So, sorry, don't know him. Bill performs at iO but I haven't met him.

You guys have an awesome forum by the way. Our Chicago one is CIN (Chicago Improv Network) and it's not very active.
