Noir!

Post by Mike »

Due to a minor scheduling problem, Roy and I will not be able to put on the old time radio show as scheduled on Sept 16th.

Thanks to Wes, the show will be scheduled for a later date, but he also let me keep this slot and I'd like to try a format that's been floating around my head for some time.

I need 6 brave improvisors to attempt : Mother Goose: Noir! , a show where we take a fairy tale and subject it to one of the coolest film styles around, film noir.

If you'd like to try this, PM me or drop me an e-mail. The show is Sept 16th at 11:30 in the Blank Show slot.

I like your idea Mike. I can't wait to see it. What, if you're willing to share the barest of details, were your plans for the old time radio show. I only ask because James, Gene and I were initially working on something with some possible similarities for the cagematch and didn't want to overlap.

Also, whatever happened to the film noir parody of star wars that was being bandied about (Working title: Star Noirs)? It may have just been a random conversation but I thought folks wanted to do it. I'd be interested in participating, but I just can't organize.

Oh, Jesus. Star Noirs opens with the Obi Wan Kenobi character standing under a lamp post slowly watching the interminable star destroyer pass overhead, unseen by the audience.

"help me, obi wan kenobi-" she said, taking a drag off her cigarette. She had legs that started at her feet and ended in a galaxy far, far, away. the hologram twitched, jerking me back into my office, and she exhaled a seductive digital plume. "-you're my only hope."

I thought we were just waiting to hear back from Peter Lorre on whether he'll voice C-3PO or not.

I am a massive Star Wars dork.
I am a massive noir freak.
I love improv more than anything.

To combine all three might actually break my fragile mind. I would die truly happy.

The radio show is more of an extended version of the game used in Maestro. It will be in the dark, and have a cast who will do the voices ( some will do more than one) with hopefully one foley artist in the mix adding sound effects. The topic is tey to be determined, but I think Roy had some ideas on that the subject matter would be.

If the Noir Blank slot is a success, I'll ask for another one and run a Sci-fi noir. It will probably be one theme like Star Noirs, but we could add the random sci-fi crossover if needed.

There...all fixed.

There are still three slots open for the show. If you'd also like to do Tech ( Mainly lighting and a miniscule bit of sound) it would be much appreciated.

You can PM me or reply here if you're interested in playin or tech.

So far we have these intrepid souls willing to go Noir! :

Phil
Madeline
Matt

Join the crowd.....give in to that voice in your head...play Noir!

I've got a shelf full of Mickey Spillane books just waiting to be referenced as I do some noir on stage. Count me in, with excitement that comes within earshot of eradicating the echoes of my partner's gruesomes screams as he was gunned down in the rain.

To those of you who signed up to be in Noir! this Saturday, here's the basic info:

I was hoping for a rehearsal this week, but work and other personal stuff is keeping me from getting enough time to schedule one. We have Mr. Ratliff supplying us with the necessary mood music, which helps cut down on the big reason I needed to have a rehearsal ( as mostly it was for tech reasons)

If all those involved can show up at the Hideout this Sat around 10:30 for a rehearsal and a possible run through, it would be cool. Brush up on your Fairy Tales, and if possible, please wear black or some shade of grey.

If there are any questions feel free to PM or e-mail me.

Thanks again.
