Thanksgiving?
Anyone doing anything for Thanksgiving? Apart from, you know, spending time with your families and what not?
I'd like to get together a little orphan Thanksgiving for those of us who have no family* in town and don't get to go anywhere. My apartment isn't very big, but I can fit some people in it. Anyone interested?

The silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe. A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee. She says "My body is the life; my body is the way." I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet.

I'm down, but if someone was providing meat (as I rarely eat it) we could use my place as it's a house and has the space. That being said I don't have much in the ways of seating for the temporary tables lying around but we got plenty of couch space and extra chairs. So it'd be like a buffet except with a big TV.
Regardless of location I'd like to whip up some good vegetarian/vegan dishes, at the least I'd like to make vegan cheesecake (but have yet to decide on the flavor, most assuredly will contain nuts).
Wonder how much a Popeye's cajun turkey costs, as there's one up the street that does turkeys. Easy solution and everyone else can BYOB, sides, and maybe chairs depending on how many people are coming.
edit: looks like they cost about $60 with the sides, not bad if a couple people pitch in

Bump! I see that Ellen, Tim, and Leng are up for it! Anyone else need a place to go?

Sure, unless anyone's allergic to cats. I should probably make a Facebook event to share around, I'll get on that today.
I can try out making rolls and pumpkin/apple fruit pies. I'll also figure out some kind of casserole.
A BYO Thanksgiving sounds pretty spiffy, but it still feels odd so close to the potluck.

Any other options?

OK, I think with Tim, Leng, Ellen, Michael, and maybe Jolene (hi Jolene! I don't know you but I look forward to getting to!) we have few enough people to fit in my place. Sorry, Tim, I'm sure your cat(s?) is awesome, but I like to breathe.
As for food... I will make something other than turkey, since I'm allergic to it. (yeah, birds and cats)
Is everyone friends on Facebook? I could make an event.
