I have two thoughts.

The first:

I wanted Bin Laden tried. Since the U.S. government never actually produced evidence to support their claims of Bin Laden's responsibility, and because there was so much information censored and hidden from public scrutiny, I really wanted a trial to explain what happened, how Bin Laden was involved, and who helped him.

The fact that he's just dead is anticlimactic. I wanted closure; this is not it. I've thought Bin Laden was probably dead for years now, this hasn't affected me in the slightest, except the disappointment I feel watching the celebrations. People chanting "U.S.A., U.S.A.," in the streets remind me of the footage I saw not long after 9/11 of radical muslims chanting and dancing in the street. It just goes to show that the U.S.A. has become a nation of brutes, celebrating a death. Sadly, most of those people celebrating were young - children when 9/11 happened. They've never known a world in which Osama wasn't an enemy, and I fear we may have raised a generation on the two minutes hate.

The second thought:

They found Osama Bin Laden in a mansion in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Talk Abbottabad place to hide...

Worry more about Pakistan. Iran's a bit away from having something useable.

Building something? Sure. Buying something from a former SSR and heaving towards Jerusalem for fun of a morning isn't something I'd put past that crazy gnome (no, not Ross Perot).

Actually the most cynical thought I've entertained recently was that we should intentionally escalate tensions in Kashmir and see if we can't get the Pakistanis and Indians more actively at each other throats again, side quietly with India and fight by proxy.

This isn't a single-player game. What it brings to mind is Israel doing something "proactive", then Russia antes up and before long what's left of the Middle East becomes the world's leading exporter of glass.
