"Anyone who still needs convincing that Improv can produce an independent piece of capital-A Art would do well to see The Improvised Shakespeare Company... Neither laughter nor amazement is short in supply." --The Onion

“MIND-BLOWING…It was one of the funniest, most amazing things I’ve ever seen.” --The Charleston City Paper

SHOW DESCRIPTION: Based on one audience suggestion (a title for a play that has yet to be written), The Improvised Shakespeare Company creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your eyes. Nothing is planned-out, rehearsed, or written. All of the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if ever you're wondering where the story is going...so are they! You've never seen the Bard like this before!

SHOW HISTORY: The Improvised Shakespeare Company, founded in 2005, has been performing its critically-acclaimed show every Friday night at the world famous iO Theater in Chicago for over five years and continues to entertain audiences around the globe with its touring company. The ISC has been featured at the Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival, Off Broadway in New York City, the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, UCB’s Del Close Marathon, and the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal and Chicago. It has been named Chicago's best improv group by both the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Examiner and has received a New York Nightlife Award for "Best Comedic Performance by a Group". The ISC was recently honored by the Chicago Improv Foundation as its "Ensemble of the Year".

Brazo! I went on Sunday at 7pm and I loved it. It looked so effortless and playful.

I caught the Sunday matinee in which the suggestion "Hamlet Gets a New Lease on Life" resulted in a Shakespeare-savvy sequel to Hamlet (it turned out that almost everyone had faked their deaths in the original).

Extremely impressive.
