New Soccer Location?

Post by hujhax »

Looks like the soccer field by the Hancock Golf Course is officially closed for improvements, so the fortnightly Merlin-Works/gnap! soccer game needs to find a new location.

Any suggestions?

There is also a big soccer complex near Arthur & Ratliff's house near Airport that seems to be open to the public. We played ultimate frisbee there once. They have several fields and goals.

Facebook Event

Post by PaGeN »

I noticed that by changing the time for the event in Facebook (every 2 weeks), everyone's attending status remains the same. Not sure if that inhibited players attendance Sunday or not. There was also a discussion of a Facebook sports group.

BTW - thanks for looking for better/new fields. :)

I have heard there is a basketball group and this soccer group, is there interest in Ultimate? I would be willing to coach/teach/lead if there is interest.

I think Adams park is a good idea. Does someone want to take the reigns of creating a Facebook group for it (not just an event). Are there enough people that use the forum that we could just do it here, or is Facebook a better place for updates? I really don't want this tradition to die.

Also, if it hasn't been said, thanks a million to Shana, Avi, and whomever else is responsible for getting this event started. It seriously has saved my life as someone who struggles to make exercise fun. I look greatly look forward to it and I love how much fun we have. THANKS!

The Facebook event for the Merlin Works & Gnap! Soccer seems to keep growing in guests -- it's an open invite. I also think the reminders posted here on this Forum are a good idea to make sure those new improvisers who may want to join in can be included.

Here's the FB thingy. Add yourself if you like. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=191088524264085

Wheee! I say stick with our fields!

I'll be out of town this Sunday, so Andreas is in charge.

(I checked out the field at the Baker Center, behind the Natural Grocers on Guadeloupe just in case. It would work, but our fields are better)

Should we switch to a facebook group, instead of me updating the event?

You may want to. Once a person declines an invitation it disappears from their facebook pages forever despite date and location changes.

Yeah, personally I'd rather have a facebook group with repeated events, for this reason.  YMMV.

Doubt if that matters, Brandon. I'm gonna come out when my foot is all better. I haven't played in years.
