Antiviruses
Anyone have a recommendation for antivirus software? I hear that some (like Norton, which I used to have) can really slow your system down.
I use Kaspersky anti-virus. It's free and it's worked pretty well so far. I haven't noticed any system slowdown after install.

As one guy put it, common sense is the best antivirus: don't go to untrustworthy sites, disable javascript unless you really need it, don't press "Yes" or "Agree" to any unexpected downloads, and so on.
I never used antivirus software, and I've had one of my computers running for seven years before switching to a new one, and it still works.
