HOUSE MANAGER COMMITTEE TO MEET SOON

i think the most important role of the stage manager is to make sure all the little things are taken care of: does the box office person have money, has the lighting person talked to the teams, is the house clean, etc. basically, this person should be empowered to make the decisions like opening the house, starting the show, clearing the house so that the improvisers can focus on putting on a good show. ideally this person would be very organized and have a good understanding of what is needed before/during/after improv shows. and they should be cute like that guy who used to stage manage the hideout

I'm not sure if Andrea was complimenting me there or not. haha.
If not, then that's fine, I'm not cute, and I guess Andy Cross is. If yes, then hey, Andrea, what're you doing this weekend, wanna get some coffee or something? hehe.
Now for my honest opinion. I think the stage manager should be a big black guy who can strangle Jay Bernardo to the point of imminent death, and then perform CPR on him and save his life, thus falling in love with him and becoming a life-time stalker.
Also, the stage manager should be personable (something Andy's always prided me for, I guess). They should be someone who has the ability to keep track of a lot of different things. If we're still going to be utilizing a box-office person and this will not be part of the stage manager's job, then the new stage manager should be somewhat submissive to the improvisers and willing to do whatever to help them out, whether that be relaying messages to the light booth, coordinating the box-office with the door-person, etc etc.
I guess this also means we should be SURE of what the HOST troupes are providing. Which I guess means they are providing a Host, Lights, Sound, Box Office, and Door Person. Everything that isn't covered by the host troupe should be thoroughly organized by the House/Stage Manager.
I'd prefer someone with theatre experience and some basic knowledge of a lightboard/soundboard...but that's not always attainable. We can always train the right person. hah. I've been reading way too many job postings lately.
