Hi Everyone,
I'm Katherine Greco, and I go by Katherine or Kat. I'm taking Andy's Level 5 class at The Hideout and have been attending a lot of the Tuesday night electives. My husband, Matt, and I got involved in classes last June when we were relatively new to the city. The improv community has really embraced us and made us feel welcome. We've made new friends and have gotten to see some fantastic shows. (Thanks to Rebecca and Dustin H. for getting us involved!)
Some of the ideas improv has gotten me to think about are the ability to accept failure and the positive effect of approaching people with a happy-healthy-sexy attitude. Slowly but surely, I'm beginning to use these ideas in my personal life, at work and, of course, in improv class. Another principle I have been thinking about a lot lately is responding immediately and obviously to what I perceive instead of thinking through a response first. I certainly have a lot more learning to do, but there have been moments when I've felt the thinking gears in my brain slow down so that the perceptive mind can be in charge for a while. It's a great feeling!
I had a conversation with my friend, Paul (Yo, yo, Paul!!), a few days ago, and it got me thinking about what things I like in improv. ...I'm torn! Games are so ridiculously fun; narrative long-form is just so damn cool and magical. So I like both, and I'm not gonna chose. ( : I want to try both and be able to do well in both.
Here's to improv!
I'm Katherine. Nice to meet you. ( :
Introduce yourself!

Kat is Great!
With Kat you get funny and fun!
She makes me laugh all the time.
She has never once smacked me to hard!
She is supportive and sensitive!
She is a lot of fun to watch in a row boat!
She has co opted my signature move and made it better.
Her hubby Matt is also funny and fun to hand out with on stage in class or at the post event event!
More to Come!

Kat and Matt- one of my fav moments thus far in our classes.
So there we were, Level One and some dude named Andy introducing to this whole new world. We were kinda sorta doing mini scene work, I really don't remember the exercise, but it called for intimacy. In those days, I ALWAYS ended up with Brad, holding hands and such. LOL Then there was these two "other" students during this one exercise, and man oh mighty, they were REALLY getting into this particular exercise. I was like, damn, these two HAVE NO FEAR, I am such a wuss. Well, come to find out, they are MARRIED!!! Sneaky.
Kat (and her sidekick love interest) are rather fabulous people, whom I have enjoyed immensely, whether it has been out many hours of workshops- to our improv potlucks, to our many dinners out after class. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this noise Kat makes when she gets frustrated, its kinda become her calling card- very fabulous. My fav of Kat's work was in our show from the last level, a bible theme, where she was giving a student named Dan a ration of it- so funny.
Our Saturdays are missed.
