All right campers!
It's time again to volunteer your blood, sweat, tears, and time (mainly the latter) to handing out flyers at First Thursday on January 5th. As usual, we'll meet at 8:00 p.m. under the big red Allen's Boots sign.
No flyers have been designed yet, so post whatever it is that you want them to include (motto, address, new schedule?) and I'll get some made up next week (probably on the 2nd).
Last time we had about 12 improvisers come out to help and we gave out more than 600 flyers in only about half an hour, so the more the merrier! And who knows, maybe hanging out will occur afterwards for those that want to. Maybe scenes will be staged on the street by the bold. When you are hanging with improvisers, anything can happen.
Also, I'll organize another meeting for the Advertising Committee (probably the second or third week in January). I know everyone has a hectic schedule in January because of the new Hideout schedule, school, and Frontera Fest, so we'll try to find a time that works for the most people. Feel free to let me know what works for you below and I'll take that into consideration. We'll discuss action items from last time (so review what you'd said you'd do--I'll bring the event list I promised which has made a lot of progress) and we'll discuss new initatives for the new year, new semester, and new schedule.
Hip, Hip, Huzzah!

consider this
wes,
you guys should check into acidflyers.com
you should get something like 5000 postcards made up now that you know the next two months worth of schedule. it costs around $200 inc. 3-day shipping if i remember correctly. thats a hell of a deal and it will give you plenty of flyers for campus, first thursdays, local business drops, and the hideout. it saves lots of money in the long run and its always good for repetition of imagery in your advertising.
all you have to do is send them a flattened photoshop doc through email.
it's real smooth and their product is great.
no, i don't get a cut of the sale. just sweet flyers.
consider it.

Oops! WN rehearsal just got moved to that night so I can't make it... unless we go early (like Chris suggests). If we go early, I'm in.

Wait!
Remember that that Thursday is also the debut of the Hideout Thursday Night Showcase Show. At 8 pm.
Can we brainstorm ideas for these two to work together? Maybe we can flyer earlier and convince people to walk down to the theatre? Provide rides for them? We can probably work out a two for one deal for people who bring in the flyers for the show. And then we can all walk back down together? Can we bump up the meeting time for 6ish to try and get more traffic down there?
Last month was my first First Thursday. Is it going to be a for real uphill battle to get people to attend the show? Or will it be easier?
Exploding with Questions!

Problem is, First Thursday doesn't really get going until 8:00 with the thickest crowds around 9:00ish, especially as summer approaches and people want to avoid the heat as much as possible. I couldn't even get down there by 6:00 if my life depended on it from where I work. I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat. Some people are always welcome to go early (two shifts isn't a bad idea), but I think we may just need some self-sacrificing souls to miss the Thursday show once a month to hit the thick of the crowds.
I may bump this week up to 7, though (as I forgot that our troupe also moved our rehearsals to Thursday and we have 2 shows coming up) and I'll post the flyers so others can print them out and maybe drop off some physical copies at the Hideout if I can beforehand.

Flyers for Printing!
OK, here are some links to the flyers I made for 1st Thursday:
Color, single
Color, 2 per page
B&W, single
B&W, 2 per page
I made them at a higer resolution than last time so they are clearer. They are something of a rush job, but convey the main points. I just wanted us to have something to hand out tomorrow. Although, I just printed some out in color and they look pretty swanky.
Anyone who has clandestine access to work printers or has the day off and would like to run to kinko's, please print some up and help out. I'll try to get some printed up myself today and I'll try to give them to someone to take to the hideout this evening before the Rose Bowl show. That way, anyone wanting to hand some out tonight or tomorrow will have some. I'll bring extras to the 1st Thursday flyering, too.
FIRST THURSDAY FLYERING -- NEW TIME!
Due to conflicts, we'll officially be meeting under the boot sign at 7:00. This way people can go to later rehearsals and the Showcase show at 8:00. However, feel free to grab flyers from the Hideout and go at 5:00 or 6:00 or 9:00 or whenever you want. But if we all gave out just 25 or 30, it will be a big help to everyone. The whole effect is greater than the sum of any one person's part, so do what you can, anything you can, to help out and keep the community growing!

Nice job Wes.
If things work out I should be able to be there to help out.

OK, I dropped off several hundred flyers last night at the Hieout during the game. Hopefully, the word was successfully passed to those that would take them to hand them out today and tonight. Just in case, here's the low down...
I dropped off color and black & white flyers last night.
The color flyers are more expensive to produce and I feel we should leave them at the Hideout so that only people making the effort to show up at the box can take them. They are just too expensive to waste on people who might toss them in a rubish bin half a block down the road.
However, I also dropped off about 300+ b&w flyers at the hideout. Feel free to swing by there and pick some up for distribution. I won't be able to make it before 7:00, but if anyone wants to hit up First Thursday before that (ChrisTrew.com suggested some people go at 6:00), you can get those b&w flyers at the Hideout on your way out there. For everyone else, I'll be under the boot around 7 with more flyers in hand (hopefully about 500). We can give out what we can and then drop the rest off at the Hideout (and if anyone wants to go back to First Thursday after the 8:00 show, all the better).
