What are all these troupes?
Hey guys,
I was just looking at the list of troupes slotted at the Hideout and there are so many new names. I'm curious. If you're in one of them, tell me about it. Who's in it with you? Do you have a hook? What else?
Yay growing improv community!

Hello Asaf,
I'm in Delta Burka, one of the troupes performing in The Threefer. We are not only a troupe, but all six of us have been in a class together since Level 2 at The New Movement. We're currently in Level 5 with Chris Trew. The other members are Yamina Khouane, Mike Breese, Danu Uribe, Michael Domange and Vanessa Gonzalez. Two of our members did Gigglepants in college at UT and two other members are in the Latino Comedy Project. We genuinely love each other and we have a lot of fun on stage. I've been really blessed with such an awesome troupe!
Two other troupes in The Threefer, The Control Group and Quite Well Thank You, are also TNM house troupes.
I hope this helps with some of the names that were unfamiliar to you. See you around...

Journey to the Big Water just had our first Hideout show a couple weeks ago and are ColdTowne Theater's 9th and most recently debuted student troupe. We're a mix of recent graduates, level 6 students and a level 4 student with the following names: Ann Armstrong, Matt Derman, Jacob Ellenberg, Stephanie Hagemeister, Sam Malcolm, Meredith Newell, Brad Temple, Adam Trabka, Joel Usher & Sam Van Metre. We're coached by Dave Buckman.
Our format is a hybrid Harold/Close Quarters where we do a set of 3 scenes in different locations, taking advantage of our large cast and filling out the stage with background scenery as well as extras engaged in their own business. After the initial set of scenes, we return to those locations, turning the focus around making the extras from the first beats featured players, and the initial featured players the extras and so on into the third beats where the locations start to cross-pollenate and reveal themselves to be part of the same world.
We like camping and dance parties.

"Parallelogramophonograph" is a student troupe- we all just finished level 2! We do a series of 200 10-second scenes revolving around a single audience suggestion of your favorite piece of fruit. Roy Janik, Kaci Beeler, Kareem Badr, and myself.

Asaf,
You actually had the distinction of introducing our group, the Local Genius Society, in our debut show at the Hideout.
We're Karen DeWitt, Laurent Martin, Zac Grantham, Nicole Beckley and Andrew Pish. We like to tell stories, play games, and give the audience a good time (not to mention impress them with our knowledge of many, many subjects).
You may have seen some of us in Austin Secrets, the Nightmare Video Project, Mortified, the ColdTowne Sketch Brawl, the Story Department, and the 999eyes freakshow, among other things.

Probably so. If they stick around though, they really ought to shorten that name to P-Graph or something that's at least pronounceable.the_reverend wrote:don't worry, they're new...i doubt they'll be around that long...mpbrockman wrote:Who?valetoile wrote:...Roy Janik, Kaci Beeler, Kareem Badr, and myself.
