Here is it! The schedule of shows for the first ever ColdTowne Theater Lock In! This is going to be a night of pure, unadulterated CHAOS and COMEDY! There will be no advance tickets or passes sold. $10 gets you in for as long as you want. Stay for two hours, or two minutes. Or hell, watch the whole damn thing. Exciting!

Thanks so much to everyone who submitted. There were 50 submissions for 25 slots. It was hard choosing. I did my best to accommodate everyone who submitted.

I went with ideas that were funny, specific and had a good marketing hook. Also, I went with some pitches that would inject a little chaos into the evening.

I couldn't accommodate everyone. If you didn't get picked, it was likely because 1) It was a two person deal 2) It was a little too self referential or 3) The pitch was too non specific ("It'll be a talk show, but with us!")

There are exceptions to all these things, obviously, but that's because in my impoerfect wisdom, I thought the show would be funny.

8-10pm
Law and Order: Special Improv Unit (8:00 – 8:15)
A series of selected scenes from hilarious hypothetical episodes of the classic drama series. A large cast of some of Austin improv’s boldest, brightest, bluest performers make Law and Order: Special Improv Unit an outrageous experience for L&O fans and non-fans alike.

Idiot Box (8:15-8:30)
Idiot Box is Lisa Jackson, Katie Sicking and the disembodied head of Nick Ramirez contained in a 13-inch TV sitting on a wheelchair.

The Lindas (8:30-8:45)
Improvisers Emma Holder and Kate Bojanek have wanted to do a show with 8 year-old Charlotte Henn since they both had the pleasure of teaching her in various children’s acting and improv classes. Despite her young age, Charlotte has been acting for many years and is a creative and dedicated performer. She has named this troupe The Lindas because we are all girls and like to have fun!

The Bollocks (8:45-9:00)
An improvised episode of The Young Ones.

Ken Burns’ Improv (9:00-9:15)
An improvised Ken Burns documentary based on a suggestion from the audience of an unmade historical K.B. doc. Lots of voice overs, letter-writing and photo montages as well as historian interviews.

Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers (9:15-9:30)
Cartoon characters Chip and Dale, along with Monterey Jack and Gadget, will solve an improvised mystery.

Pasta with a Chat (9:30-9:45)
Two lady talk show hosts load up on carbs (eat real pasta) the entire time they chat. It’s like watching the View, but two less views, a lot more pasta, and a lot more Frank acting like a lady.

Improvised Robocop (9:45-10:00)
Finally a genre improv troupe dedicated to the greatest movie of all time. Can Murphy still save the day when he has to be a doctor, lawyer or Indian chief?! Will he still be able to fire off his trademark catch phrases.

10pm – 12am
Improv Royale (10:00-10:15)
Improv Royale is improv as performed by 1980s professional wrestlers after one week of classes–scenes where there’s no object work outside of figure 4 leg locks.

Hot Spots on Your Face (10:15-10:25)
Ten minutes of the warm-up hot spot. One giant audience sing along

Noon Society: Improvised Midnight Society (10:25-10:40)
“Made up of stand up and sketch comedians, filmmakers, and writers, Midnight Society was named Austin’s best improv troupe by the Austin American Satesman’s A-List and was recently nominated for a B. Iden Payne Award. Midnight Society performs every Saturday night at 11PM at ColdTowne Theater along with improv veterans The Frank Mills.*” This performance will feature none of the members of Midnight Society, except Andy Petruzzo.

Celebrity Inception (10:40-11:00)
Following the ideas in the Christopher Nolan hit film, Inception, we will knock out a celebrity, explore his dream levels and implant an idea in his head

Improvised America’s Funniest Home Videos (11:00-11:15)
Improv mimicking/recreating the magic of spontaneously captured goofs on pedestrian cameras (but LIVE!). Including: pet bloopers, wedding bloopers, crazy kid moments, and more!

Close Calls with Jon Bolden (11:15-11:30)
Curtis Luciani plays Paul Giamatti being interviewed by Jon Bolden via telephone in the adjacent hotel room.

A Light in the Dark (11:30-11:45)
The only source of light for this show is a flashlight given to an audience member.

Deja Vu (11:45-12:00)
This show will replay the entire lock-in in 15 minutes, including every show in every slot, from 8 PM -2 AM. This show will not be the last show of the night, so much of it will be complete bullshit, or possibly oracular. Deal with it.

12-2am
The Masters Debate (12:00-12:15)
Lincoln vs. Douglas. Kennedy vs. Nixon. Carter vs. Ford. The Great Debates in American History. A struggle of minds, philosophies, and realities. One thing can be agreed upon in each of these historic meetings… there was a winner. Now… before you tonight… there will be a debate the likes of which man has never seen. In the end, the audience will decide who is the better debater, and who will very likely be the next President of the United States of America.

Lubu & Williams & Lubu/Williams (12:15-12:25)
Brian and Michael do improv in their normal character-based fashion. Jon Bolden does his impersonation of Brian and Michael doing improv with them for a meta-fest.

The Sweet Valley Babysitter Friends (12:25-12:45)
Sweet Valley Babysitter Friends is an amalgamation of the YA literature that taught us the ways of the preteen girl. First and foremost it was important to have a posse of friends that represented the following archetypes: Pretty and Vain, Pretty and Smart, Smart with Glasses (later revealed to be Pretty but Blind without Glasses), and Pretty and Funky (or the variety of Pretty, Ethnically Divergent, and Funky). Secondly, it was important to address complicated social issues (homelessness, mental illness, racism, etc) and resolve these issues by the end of the book via a bake sale, class project, school dance, talent show or combination of all four measures!

Ladies Room/Mens Room (12:45-1:00)
The show alternates between the real ColdTowne Theater ladies room and the men’s room. Audience will have to get up to watch.

Shake it to the Big Water (1:00-1:15)
Moving through a random assortment of music from different genres, the members of JTTBW free their minds and bodies as they make up a complicated and emotionally stirring dance routine on the spot.

Let’s Rock (1:15-1:30)
Lets rock performs a form where scenes are inspired by physicality inspired by metal music.

The Valero Price is Right (1:30-1:45)
It’s the Price is Right, but entirely based around real items from Valero. We’ll do a few price-based games to get contestants on stage, play some more games with them, and ultimately have a fabulous Showcase Showdown.

Groin Punch! (1:45-2:00)
BROS! From the Delta Si frat comes the greatest fuckin improv comedy skits from the best fuckin improvers in the world! Come party, drink, and laugh with the boys of Groin Punch! We’ve been working on our games and strengthening our relationships to expand from frat brothers to real brothers. Also, John plays a really great girl. So get ready for some BLOWJOB SCENES! This is gonna be the funniest fucking show in the world bro. You’ll be sorry if you miss this. Chicks get in free!

J.C.’s B.M. (2:00-2:15)
ColdTowne Theater’s first ever graduating class! Super reunion! Bryan and Michel discuss an album from a band (the name of the band is the suggestion), then Cody and Joel play (with instruments) the songs described. This inspires scenes. If need be, we can return to the discussion of the album, but with 15 minutes it probably won’t be necessary.

It's $10 for as much as you can stand. Performers will be admitted for free, providing there are seats left. We will move you if we need the seat for a paying customer.

Still, that $10 is going towards our move, so consider it a helping plan.

I've already got multiple format ideas inspired by what I saw!
