National Poetry Slam in Austin!

This year (and next) Austin will be the proud host of the National Poetry Slam (Aug 9-13), in which 75 teams of poets will descend and compete for top honors in a 5 day hullabaloo.

This is important to YOU for the following reason:
Wednesday Aug. 9 & Thursday Aug. 10 - There will be preliminary bouts (6pm-11pm) in the downstairs theatre of The Hideout (as well as other venues). This will cause a massive swelling in bodies present. Advertise well and be prepared for a crowd clogging the pores of the theatre.
AND
Friday Aug. 11 - Despite the threefer, there will be SEMI-FINAL bouts (6pm-9pmish) downstairs at The Hideout. This will be even more ridiculous than the previous two nights. You may get some bleedthrough sound in the upstairs from shouting poets and cheering, drunken crowds (I expect a sellout downstairs). Brace yourself for distraction, but advertise as if your lives depended upon it. The crowd in the coffeeshop will also be ridiculous at points, so take that into consideration when purchasing your booze or whatevers.
