Likewise. That's probably almost exactly when I went to a Doctor Who convention (maybe a year or two on either side, I must have been around 14 or 15, though), and got to meet John Pertwee and Nicholas Courtney (the Brigadier!) and eat some genuine jelly babies, which were so good. There were people with full-on Dalek getups, and I'd never seen anything so awesome in all my little life.Jeff wrote:I've been a Doctor Who fan for 28 years. I made my Mom drive me to a Doctor Who convention in New Orleans in 1984. It was awesome. I remember walking into a hotel conference room at about 2 in the morning where a whole bunch of nerds were watching The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and boy wow, did I ever feel like I was at the right place.
Some of you may have seen it, as it's the one we did for the 41 hour marathon. I must say, playing the doctor is tons of fun!!Matt wrote:I'd definitely play in this if I can. The Flying Theater Machine did a run of shows where we basically ripped off Doctor Who - we had to cut out the sonic screwdriver, alas, but the basic structure was the same. Worked pretty well.
That was my first thought when I read the title of the thread too! That book made me afraid of houses for a while. I can't even imagine what it would look like as an improv show.....chazpf wrote:Not to derail anything,
I thought this thread would be about the novel House of Leaves...
When I was a child, I had a recurring dream about a house like this, with another disturbing feature: when you passed through a doorway, then turned to go back through it, it didn't always take you back from whence you came, but instead, lead to yet another room. Rooms did repeat themselves, but not predictably. It was not a happy place to be.chazpf wrote:I thought this thread would be about the novel House of Leaves... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_leaves.
From the plot summary: " As [the main character] investigates this phenomenon, he finds that the internal measurements of the house are somehow larger than external measurements. Initially there is less than an inch of difference, but as time passes the interior of the house is found to be seemingly expanding, while maintaining the same exterior proportions."
a pretentious and needlessly obfuscating improv show? could be fun.chazpf wrote:Not to derail anything,
