I Need A Room!

Hey Austin Improv!
I'm, Bill. I'm a 30 year-old, laid back, software developer involved in the comedy/theater scene. I'm from Austin but I currently live in Chicago. I'm skipping the intense Chicago winter this year by working from home in Austin, and I need a place from early January through the ...

I once made a sun-mix and now I'm regretting leaving some of these off. Always loved this one though.

One day, you'll look
To see I've gone
But tomorrow may rain, so
I'll follow the sun

Corrected MOON: 16
SUN: 15

Word, Thanks everyone for making this thing something I can show off to my Chicago crew and something I look forward to for a year immediately after it's over. I just now got more than 5 hours of sleep for the first time in over a week. What a blast!

Any pics of the KC set at Coldtowne Friday at 11:30?

Edit: Bill, just went back and read your card post from before. Would you give me Butt Kapinski *and* Sarah 7 for the KC Redheart?

You got it! I really love that Butt Kapinski card but I couldn't get it signed so I will acquiesce to your demands. You gonna be at the show tonight? How can I find ...

Looking for the Grandma Hates Technology card.

Okay... Amazing. Joining the forum just to get a playing card. Wish I had it for ya, Mike.

I am pretty happy with my trades, but I NEED that K.C. Redheart card. I'll do anything. Just get at me if you have it!

Hey, dudes, I could use a few more of you in the workshop so that we can really get a proper harold going. If it were up to me I'd offer a discount, but it's not up to me.

What do you say, Powers-that-be? Maybe we can cut a deal such that if we can get 10 people to sign up for Wednesday then ...

Hey dudes! Just wanted to say that some of my useful Harold techniques are BRAND NEW to me! By that I mean, I just recently discovered a couple good tricks while working with a team I'm coaching at iO now. Fun stuff! Come on out!

I came up doing improv with the same group of people for YEARS.
This has had a very tangible effect (at least to me) on the way I think about and do improv (obviously).
One thing that it effected is that I can vividly remember the first few times I played with people who were new to improv after I ...

Dude, that is so sick. Have you guys read "Golf is not a Game of Perfect"?

It's interesting to me that he talks to people instead of auditioning them. I have met a lot of improvisers in passing in Chicago and I haven't figured out a ton of correlation between actions/conversations in real life and show quality. But then maybe that's why I'm not a famous director.

"We did a similar thing in the Jury..."

HAHAHAHA! I say that all the time. OR even more often I'll say, "Oh, my friends in Austin did that."

Dudes in the vid in question: I know Orlando and Payton pretty well and I've seen Avery play a bunch but never officially met him. All quality improvisers.

Related question. What if you're aiming at a darker show? And your character, such as it is, is a little self-absorbed and cranky to begin with?

It's also easy to forget that there are two things going on in improv: the acting of the scene and the writing of the scene. So there are the character ...

Word, to the Harold being important but not necessarily because of it's artistic merit. I think you can glean almost any lesson from any form, but the key is to do as many forms as you can as many times as you can. You should also try to invent your own forms so that you can see how hard it is to ...
