Re: UT Long-Form Troupe
The troupe is set!
We're a troupe of 10 but each week we will bring on a feature player to play with us (similar to SNL). We want improvisers from all over Austin to join us in making a great show each week. The feature player also has the opportunity during practice the week of the show to design ...

Re: Austin School Styles
Hey! I have been thinking the same thing because I'm at the Institution studying right now as well. But they don't even teach strictly comedy. They teach the comedy is in the relationship and discovery of something, which is true for all improv in my opinion. And what better way to learn to make ...

Re: UT Long-Form Troupe
It's official...we are in business! Snafu is now a registered student organization!
I suppose I will wait for OOB to pass through and then we will hold auditions! I can't wait to get this thing rolling!
YEEHOOOO

Re: UT Long-Form Troupe
Haha I agree a cool name can go a long way!
Right now, I have it down as Snafu. I get dictionary words of the day (nerdy I know) and it sent me snafu one day, and the definition means a chaotic situation which is kind of what improv is. Also, one of the other definitions the DICTIONARY said was ...

Re: UT Long-Form Troupe
Awesome, thanks for the offer! I'll definitely be taking you up on that! I've submitted to the "Student Organization Administration" and have an orientation for new student groups coming up so I'm hoping I can get this thing rolling within the first few weeks of school.

Miming and Physicality
I've been miming random things all week and to an outsider I have to look like a psycho, but I've heard that people judge your improv skills largely based on how your miming skills are. How much does object work take into account the quality of an improviser you are? Obviously if you walk through a ...

Re: Greetings!
Thanks for the help guys! I am officially signed up for classes at the Institution! My bank account and schedule thought it was the wise decision, but hopefully I'll make my way around all the theaters.

Re: Greetings!
Awesome! Thanks for the responses! I realize you can't go wrong with any theater and they are pretty much teaching the same things when you get down to it. Which theater, though, teaches most like the Groundlings-a lot of character work? That's the type of improv I find to be the most fun to watch ...

UT Long-Form Troupe
Yo AIC-
I will be a UT student in the fall and I am aware they have a short-form improv troupe called Gigglepants.
However, I was wondering if there was a long-form troupe as well? If not, I'd definitely like to start one! If anyone would be interested in joining me I'd love for you to jump on ...

Greetings!
Hello Austin Improvisers,
I'm Tanner Kalina, and I'm moving to Austin next month. Super stoked! I will be a junior at UT, but more importantly I will be an Austin improviser!
I just wanted to say Hi and I can't wait to play with you all.
Also, I'm sure this has been discussed in a thread ...
