I will say that the most hidden and most important key to winning this game has been revealed in this thread.

the thing that irks me every year is the total lack of independent films. Last year 'Blue Valentine', in my mind, a shoe in for Best Picture somehow didn't even get nominated.

The Oscars have actually been leaning toward lower budgeted films since the number of nominees has gone up.
