I can understand not believing in the mystical idea of group mind, I totally understand that reluctance. But not believing in trust? Really? Huh. That seems odd.

And as for group mind, I'm with Erika on this. I don't think you have to believe in mysticism to believe that chemistry and a certain ...

I must respectfully disagree. The subtlety of NOT mentioning the dagger can be funny if played correctly. It can be just accepted that you are in a scewed reality. For me, that's one of the most fun things about improv: you're not bound by the rules of the "normal" world. The dagger example might ...

I agree with this for the most part... however...

There is something to be said for the approach of accepting the dagger as real (forgetting about the game of heightening the weapon/tool). It's an absurdist approach, yes, but as long as it's played straight and not just to get a laugh then that ...

As the scene continues, Milque keeps saying "fine" and getting more and more annoyed when told to read "Games People Play" and keeps not reading it, in the end it ruins his friendship with Jastroch, who is hurt and baffled by Milque's refusal to read the book. That book means the world to Jastroch ...

But if a surgeon is handed a dagger, and he has an emotional response... (either he thinks that this nurse is revolutionary and brilliant, or he feels she's incompetent, or they have had an affair so he feels she's fucking with him... ANYTHING but accepting the dagger as normal... he must have a ...

The more I do this improv shit, the more I realize that the game and the scene and the relationship are inseparable. They depend on each other end feed each other and even are each other.

Thanks for the kind words dudes.

And yes, polish and pickles are both food groups. But not onions. That one we just threw in for the sake of comedy.

I agree with Bob.

What you're going to say is not important. What you have already said is vital. The first few moments hold the key to your scene, but it doesn't matter what they are. No matter what they are they are good enough to build a scene on.

Also, don't confuse the first few moments with ...

Thanks for the kind words, Roy.

It's great to know that it helped.

I hope to come back sometime in the near future and teach another workshop.

Thanks again,

Ed

Thanks!

Thanks man. I appreciate it.

If you have one in the theater and you don't mind us borrowing it, that would be awesome. If not, we will head into that store as soon as we hit Austin.

Thanks again.

Not sure that this is the correct forum for this post, but so be it.

Sketchcore! need a prop cap gun for OOB Festival performance

Hi all.

My sketch group, Sketchcore!, needs a prop gun for our show at the Festival on Sept. 1, and we'd like to avoid the airport hassle of trying to get one on the plane.

It has to look real and it has to use caps that are somewhat loud.

does anyone know of a shop in Austin where this can be ...
