Thanksgiving Maestro

Have the slots for this weekend's Maestro been filled up or has the event been cancelled or what?

Also, putting fliers on chairs just makes a mess. Hardly anyone takes them and they make a terrible mess for other people to clean up (not me, I don't do manual labor. I'm from Connecticut). A better approach would be to hand them out after the show. Or before the show.
Hear, hear, Jastro! Too ...

Cleanliness is next to Godliness...

And y'all are rather impish. Please don't leave Thursday night spills for me to clean up on Friday when my job starts. And please don't leave beer bottles strewn about the middle of the green room floor. Especially when we have renters using all three spaces during the day and messes mean that your ...

Need a Stand-In House Manager August 12!

That's right! August 12 is a saturday and I desperately need someone to relieve me from my house managing duties. Normally I'd ask one of the previous HM's to cover for me, but one's in CA and the other has the same conflict as me. If you've seen me do my job, you'd observe that there's not much too ...

Wes-I hope you can repost what you said in the thread Phil made regarding membership and troupe dues, as it seems you two have similar ideas.

I'm sure everyone works very hard. All I know is that before I left Austin, myself and everyone I knew considered it a privalege to be able to perform in a ...

Yes, Kaci. But primarily, due-paying would be a good way of tracking membership which is the problem at hand. Got another idea? Who gets to be members and who doesn't?

As far as dues go, I now think that a better idea would be for troupes to annually "buy" stagetime.
But that doesn't take care of ...

I'm sure you guys have already discussed and declined it, but I think $5/month dues would be a perfect way to decide membership AND bolster the treasury. I don't think it's exorbitant.

we should ween ourselves off of planning meetings and agendas based who can make it and who can't. this might be a contributing factor to our beaurocracy problems right now.

Once again I agree wholeheartedly. Anyone who suggests that these problems can be cleared up by delegating to committees is ...

Agreed. The president should, in the eventuality that such obligation isn't delineated to someone else or if they fail in their duties, update the website. Just another reason why it's important to have an "end of the line" when it comes to responsibility.

I love it, but we still need weekly site updates with specifics such as which troupes are performing. It's very necessary to give the website any sort of function to curious patrons. Who does the website updating?

National Poetry Slam in Austin!

This year (and next) Austin will be the proud host of the National Poetry Slam (Aug 9-13), in which 75 teams of poets will descend and compete for top honors in a 5 day hullabaloo.

This is important to YOU for the following reason:
Wednesday Aug. 9 & Thursday Aug. 10 - There will be preliminary ...

This seems a little unrealistic. Who among us has the time to work 20+ hours for $5 an hour, on top of jobs and shows?
I did =). I don't think it's too much to ask of someone who is honestly committed to the improv community (not a poser).

I think the idea of a President is a necessary one for ...

Box Office Ettiquette

Saying that a show ISN'T good and then citing certain ambiguous Chronicle reviews to back up the statements is equally as bad box office manners as saying that one show is better than the other. I don't want to tolerate any more of this trash-talking although I assume that I won't have to once ...

I want to talk about the Hideout's future and insist on better publicizing for events/shows...ESPECIALLY if you "own" the show slot.

If it's a question of BALLS, then I will begin bouncing...to prove they're still there.
