The ColdTowne Conservatory Masters Class #1

Post by ChrisTrew.Com »

Hey! Students in the ColdTowne Conservatory get the opportunity to take free workshops with visiting teachers. We are also opening up a second class for general improvisers in the AIC. Here is information on our very first masters class:

Instructor: Rene Duquesnoy
Rene has been doing improv since you were in diapers, or since he was in diapers. Not sure, but we know diapers were involved. He has studied under [Commendant Lassard voice] many, many people, learning many, many, many things. Rene performs with Homey Loves Chachi at The Playground and The Beatbox and ComedySportz-Chapel Hill for DSI. He performed with the uber-indie team Dually Noted, under the direction of current SNL writer John Lutz. Recently, Rene performed with Improvasato and Oliver Twisted, both in Cleveland. Then, you could have seen him play with the People's Republic of Funny in Ann Arbor at Improv Inferno. Most recently, Ney Ney has been cast on a BattleProv team at ComedySportz Chicago.

Rene quit his job travelling and now is in Chicago full time working at PEAK6, an electronic options company located in the fun CBOT. Word up on that!!

Rene is teaching a workshop on Extended 2 Person Scenework.
"The 2 person scene workshop will focus on creating interesting and sustainable characters and relationships that could be put in different scenarios to further the show. The scenes in the workshop will average 4-5 minutes long and will enable the performers to do 2 person monoscene shows."

Class information follows:
Saturday, October 21st 10am-Noon @ The ColdTowne Theater
(class limited to 14 people. $25 each)
Saturday, October 21st Noon-Two pm @ The ColdTowne Theater
(class limited to 14 people. FREE for ColdTowne Conservatory Students)

Signups begin NOW. I don't think I have to preach this, but I will anyway - taking improv classes with people from out of town who might have a different style, use different jargon, whatev = awesome. Take advantage.

Sign-ups are heating up on this one. RSVP soon, peeps.
We've got some other big-fun fancy masters class people in the works, so help us keep this tradition up and keep Austin Improv getting better and better. Eventually people from this community will get flown out to other cities to show them the Austin way and everyone wins. Especially Austin. Improv, too.

Is there still space? If so, I'd like to sign up for the noon-2 class. Cheers.
