Jus' a new lil' boy in town

Hello.

I begin my introduction on this board as I begin all introductions in life. With an apology. I apologize because if this board does not allow extreme newbies, then I am in the wrong place. I apologize and will return when I have amassed more experience as an improvising wunderkind. I have been involved with exactly three days of improv in my life and have loved every second of it. And as this is a brand new year, I have decided to dedicate myself more fully to the improvisatory arts.

My name is Jer and I'm mainly a filmmaker and cartoonist, but I have been wanting to be involved with improv for years. I love the safety of space that it creates. I love the intimacy of it. I love anything that forces me to be in the moment. Improv, as I see it, is a way for our brains to rebel against our decay.

So this year I'm making it my goal to take the first three levels at The Hideout and possibly more if the financial stars align. In the meantime, if anyone needs any help with anything, give me a holler at jeremymmoran@gmail.com. Also check out my video work at http://vimeo.com/jeremymoran. Also follow me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/moranicjeremy.

Thank you and I hope I offended no one with my newbie spuzz.

Peace.

Nonsense, even zero days of improv is enough to get on the forums. Welcome! Be sure to join the Facebook group as well.

And regarding financial stars aligning, check out the Hideout's internship programs and the possibility of TAing after you've got a few levels under your belt. Come say hi if you see me.

I'm pretty sure all of the theaters in town have an internship program that can help defray the cost of classes if you wanted to dive in ASAP.

Whoa I had no idea about internship programs. How do those work?

Just send a message to the person or email address for classes at each theater and ask about it. You generally do stuff like assistant-house-managing shows, taking tickets, doing tech, or other misc. tasks—I know Merlin Works is looking for a social-media intern to write blog posts.
