FACT OF THE DAY: The high five only dates to 1977. It probably originated between baseball players Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgers following a home run on October 2, 1977. Burke, one of the first openly gay professional athletes, then popularized the gesture among the gay community in San Francisco.
