Same Year's Eve 2014 is This Tuesday, and You're in it!

Hey Austin improvisers! (please share this with your troupemates, your students if you are a teacher, or with anyone who you think should see it)

I wanted to extend an invitation to ya'll to come out to the Austin improv community's Same Years show/party this Tuesday.

It's a tradition that brings together as many Austin improvisers as we can into one show.

...and YOU are invited to perform in it.

(The graphic below says it's 10 dollars, but that's for the audience. Don't buy a ticket unless you plan on sitting in the audience.)

For those who don't know, "Same Year's Eve" is the BEST show of the year. BEST because the Austin Improv community is all in one spot -- on stage at almost the same time -- even when we try to break into groups.

It's a bit of a mess artistically speaking, BUT! as a community event, it is awesome.

It also ends up being a fun reunion with all the Austin ex-pats coming home to join in the show.

It's a huge cast -- essentially a 2 hour improv jam-show broken into three (35-40 min) acts:
Act 1 = improv games (8:00-8:35pm)
Act 2 = montage scenes (8:40-9:15pm)
Act 3 = musical narrative (9:20-10:00pm)

more or less.

If you want to play in the show, you show up at 7pm to grab a number out of the hat.

Based on the number you draw, you are divided into one of the three sets. The groups then break out to practice and warm up.

It's our hope that this will all work like it has in the past. However, the scene continues to grow. If we have an INSANE turnout, we may have to limit the number of cast via a lottery system. To that end, we're asking that you show up by no later than 7:30pm.

There will be mixing and mingling afterwards, with treats, music & dancing (with a set by DJ Bouncehouse), and there's always a final count-down-to-Midnight to ring in the "Same Year" with too many toasts.

If you're so inclined, please bring snacks. We will also have beer for sale in the coffee house (woo!), and beer provided by Orf Brewing at the party.

All this goes down on Dec. 30th (Tuesday) at The Hideout. All students, improvisers, past or present, from any of the theaters (or from anywhere) are invited to perform.

Spread the word.
