Meets Mondays 7p-10pm starting 8/11 (6 sessions, skipping Labor Day 9/1). 12 students. Only a few spots left!

Note: If you're a Merlin Works student, curriculum designed to be unique and not merely duplicate Merlin Works musical improv classes.

Prerequisite: Must have taken at least one prior musical improv class at the Hideout, Merlin Works or elsewhere. (Totally cool if it wasn't at the Hideout)

Course Description: This second class in our musical improv series will build on the basics and invite the performers to step up their game, creating more complex song structures, enhanced confidence and commitment, and begin to weave songs into an improvised narrative. You’ll begin to explore and master solo song performance and structure techniques, character intro songs, as well as subtly directing a group number from within a show. You will explore the art of rhyming on the fly and up your precision and timing when it comes to singing on stage. Classes meet for six weeks, three hours each week, limit 12 students. Musical accompanist will be Ammon Taylor. This class will culminate in two student showcases for friends and family in the Sunday Weekender.

Instructor Kacey Samiee previously co-directed the Hideout's acclaimed mainstage show ROCK: The Improvised Rock Opera. Kacey has performed with musical improv troupe Girls Girls Girls

Musical accompanist Ammon Taylor has been the main piano player for Girls Girls Girls for the past few years
