Seattle Improv Festival

Postby Asaf » September 23rd, 2009, 11:34 am

I have just submitted Confidence Men to SFIT and one of the producers asked me to spread the word amongst the Austin community.

The Seattle Festival (taking place February 19-22) is my favorite of all the festivals. The selection of acts are strong, the audiences are big and mostly non-improvisers, the theaters top notch and fun to play in, the parties fun and easy to mingle at, AND you get paid well for each of your two performances.

It is definitely worth submitting: http://www.seattleimprov.com/submissions/

Get Up had a great time last year. Seattle and Seattle imps are FUN! We lucked out and got great weather.

I will second what Sara said. Seattle was awesome. Wonderful people, wonderful venues, good eats. And Asaf did a brilliant solo show there last year.

Jeff and i are submitting this year...we'd love to see some Austinites there so Jeff doesn't have to get to know strangers!

...and so strangers don't have to get to know Jeff...

Typo, Freudian slip, or insight into potentially awesome idea?

HAHAHA! Yes, that's funny. Funny-haha and funny-odd. I am hoping that the Seattle Festival of Improv will be like a mini Puppet Improv Fest. There are several puppet improv acts there already, and they were encouraging others to come. :-) We will see.

ALSO Trouble Puppet and the Austin Creative Alliance (rumors only) may be trying to form an AUSTIN PUPPET FESTIVAL. There is nothing official about this, just some happy chatter. I had planned to go to the 2011 O'Neil Puppetry Conference, but the cost and timing is discouraging. Someday, though...

FYI, no PIP at SFIT. Any Austin troupes going besides "Imp" (Asaf)?

And on the note of an Austin Puppet Festival, Connor is working on it, but it may be 2015 before it happens. He's working on something smallish, then hopes to grow it to a national thing.

I am going, and sometimes I am in Austin. Sometimes I am not in Austin. I have a pair of cowboy boots and a pair of flip flops that I store in Austin.
