As part of our expansion efforts in 2014, The Hideout is pleased to announce the launch of Student Mainstage Productions.

These shows will be an ongoing series of month-long show runs of full-length improvised plays. For an hour and fifteen minutes, these productions will showcase the rising talent of the Hideout Theatre.

Show runs will be similar to the regular mainstage shows. Each show will have a concept, a director, an audition and two months of weekly rehearsals. The production will end with a four-show run on Saturday evenings in The Hideout's upstairs theater.

The cast will be comprised of Hideout students and recent Hideout graduates. ("Recent" will be loosely defined as one-year since graduating). Hideout students who are currently taking classes are more than welcome to audition regardless of experience level.

As the community grows and more and more talent amasses, it is becoming increasingly difficult for our fresher faces to find consistent and ensemble-oriented stage time. This is the Hideout's way to alleviate this issue for our student body. Our goal is to create more opportunities for growth, new friendships and an expanded base for our community.

A new Student Mainstage Production will open every other month beginning in February. (The next show will open in April, then June, etc.) As a result, between the upstairs mainstage and the downstairs mainstage, a new show will premiere each month at The Hideout!

We're super excited about this, and are committed to making these shows a success. In fact, we've already got the first the Student Mainstage Productions lined up. Here they are:

February: What the F#*@!, directed by Ruby Willmann
A narrative that's completely normal… Until the audience provides a twist at intermission that totally f#@$ everything up.

April: Camp Madeupponathaspotta, directed by Jon Bolden
Family friendly tales centered around the the mischievous world of summer camps.

June:  Cochise!, directed by Marc MajcherThe classic Improv for Evil show returns. Cochise is a completely improvised homage to the 70s cop show. Just like Starsky and Hutch, Kojak, and Baretta, Detective John Cochise fights crime on the streets of Metro City with seventies style.

More opportunities, more bonding, more love!

We are so very excited for what is to come.
