A piece of improv history. Pretty funny to see how long it takes to set up the short form game, and how little some things have changed regarding audiences and audience interaction in 40 years.

(Latifah is the one Dick Cavett introduces as Jessica--she changed her name some years later)

It gets especially surreal during the closing credits.

Also, according to the wikipedia article, Latifah wasn't just in The Committee, she was one of the founders.

I didn't realize exactly *how* much The Committee is the root of the American improv family tree. So many theaters can trace their lineage right back to it.

Why don't we find some way to get her to just talk at us about all this history more? She's such an incredible resource to have in Austin.

Janis Joplin, total pro! And Howard Hessman, too. Very cool footage.

According to some, she was there with Del in San Fran when they tried out the first, pre-IO Harolds.
